Service Fee
What is the service fee?
The service fee is a transparent amount charged separately from the parking fee. It covers the costs of operating and developing the application (e.g. development, banking and transaction fees, customer support). It is the only remuneration of the application operator.
What is the service fee used for?
It covers the costs of application development and operation, banking and transaction fees, customer support, and further development. The service fee is our only source of revenue. It helps us provide a reliable, secure, and user-friendly service. We believe that a high-quality service deserves fair compensation.
Why is the service fee charged and why is it shown separately?
The city receives 100% of the parking fee and does not pay any commission to the application provider. The operator therefore covers its costs through the service fee. The fee must be shown separately from the parking fee because these are two different payments: the parking fee goes to the city, while the service fee goes to the application operator. For simplicity and user convenience, both payments are processed together in a single transaction.
Is the fee fair?
Yes, the fee is transparent, always displayed before payment confirmation, and reflects the real costs of providing the service.
What are the benefits for the user?
Despite the fee, parking is generally cheaper than through other channels, thanks to features that a mobile application offers compared to parking meters or SMS, such as:
-
You pay only for the actual parking time (per-minute billing)
-
You can end your parking earlier and save money
-
Parking is often cheaper than via SMS
-
The application is convenient, reliable, and secure, and allows digital parking management
Why is this model used here?
In Slovakia, for many years the standard model was that cities paid application operators through a commission. However, the commission did not cover the operators’ real costs and did not allow them to fully develop their applications, bring innovations, or provide high-quality support. At the same time, the commission burdened municipal budgets. Today, the so-called “commission-free model” is the standard: the city receives the full parking fee, and application costs are covered through a service fee—just like in Western Europe or the USA. Within an open market, users can choose which payment channel or application they want to use, based on quality, convenience, and price of services.
